Change Of Procedure – Self Pick Up
Over the past two years the number of Sayward families that require supplemental food has increased from 24 families to 49 families. At the same time our handful of Sayward Food Table volunteers has remained the same.
Last month our volunteer coordinator began her shift at 7am and only finished at 6pm. The reason? Few people came to collect their food boxes, despite being requested to do so. This is neither sustainable, nor acceptable.
Going forward, if you want the supplemental food box, you will need to come and get your packed food box at the Kelsey Center between 11.30am and 12.30pm. This new procedure starts this month, May 2025. Any food boxes left unclaimed will be given to others.
Our volunteers are committed to packing the food boxes you receive monthly. You have a part to play in keeping this service going. Your responsibility is to come and get your food box on the day it is packed.
If you are housebound and unable to collect your own box of food, please make arrangements with a friend or neighbour to pick up your food box on the same day the food is being packed. See dates below.
We are happy to continue to serve and support you by packing the food boxes each month. We just don’t have volunteers or time to make 49 deliveries as well. Your cooperation is greatly needed.
