2025 has been an exciting year of growth and impact for the Sayward Community Food Table Society. This year, we have focused on moving forward with plans and projects to better serve our community. Notable accomplishments include completing purchase and set-up of our Sea-Can with the United Way Infrastructure granting stream of over $20,000 to better facilitate the housing of our SCFTS food security program. This year, we were busy as we partnered with the United Way, Strathcona Community Food Hub, Greenways Land Trust, Village of Sayward, Regional District Area “A”, the Sayward Community Health Society, The Heritage Hall Committee, Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank, BC Ambulance Services, Sayward Marketing, Mid Island Coop, Laichwiltach Family Life Society, and The Aquarian Tabernacle Church, all of whom helped facilitate our goals through; Grants in Aid providing SCFTS with places to sort the donated and rescued foods, as well as monetary funding to cover the costs of unforeseen expenditures not covered by the United Way $20K Infrastructure Grant received in early 2025. SCFTS has completed and submitted it’s application for Charitable status and is waiting in the Que for approval, our society is trying to expedite the process as the six month timeline has quickly become an eight month waiting period, so we are endeavouring to connect with others within the governmental structure to highlight the community of Sayward’s food security concerns.
